In 1962, Henry Guier founded a small lighter company in Birwil, Aargau, Switzerland.
In 1964 the Diplomat Trademark was officially registered and a new collection of high quality lighters with a unique design was introduced.
Every year Diplomat presented new models of lighters and smoking accessories. Lighters with clocks, cigar and pipe lighters, lighters with a turbo flame appeared, they were distinguished by the highest quality of mechanisms and level of finishing materials. The stunning success of the company was brought by the Diplomat-Mini lighter. This unique compact model was sold in one and a half million copies in 1971 and was especially popular among women.
